'The Lottery and Other Stories' — Lesson 05: Fear, Anxiety and Uncertainty

This individual lesson is part of the Lesson Ready unit on The Lottery and Other Stories (VCE English and EAL).

Lesson 05 explores how Jackson creates fear, anxiety and uncertainty, with a particular focus on ‘The Witch’. Students analyse how an ordinary conversation becomes increasingly disturbing, track the mother’s growing anxiety, and compare the different ways Jackson makes everyday situations feel threatening or unstable.
