'The One Day of the Year'
Complete teaching resources for The One Day of the Year by Alan Seymour — a VCE English and EAL text.
This collection includes a complete 14-lesson unit, all 14 lessons available separately, and a set of four listening tasks for EAL students.
The Complete Unit explores the Cook household, Anzac Day and wartime experiences, dramatic techniques, characters, relationships and six major themes before progressing to analytical interpretation, essay planning and sustained analytical writing. It includes editable PowerPoint slideshows, student worksheets, sample answers, a reading companion with language support and study questions, companion sample answers, and analytical essay topics.
The reading companion supports students with the play’s colloquial language through accessible glossaries and section-by-section study questions, helping them develop their understanding as they read.
The listening-task set develops listening and note-taking skills while extending students’ understanding of historical, social and cultural contexts relevant to the play. It includes four audio recordings, four 20-mark student worksheets, sample answers and marking guidance.
The Complete Unit and individual lessons are available with an Individual Teacher Licence or English/EAL Faculty Licence — One Campus. The listening-task set is licensed for use by the English/EAL faculty at one school campus and is available through the school purchase-order process.
