'The Holdovers' — Lesson 01: What Is This Film Really About?

This individual lesson is part of the Lesson Ready unit on The Holdovers (VCE English and EAL).

Lesson 01 introduces students to the film’s central concerns. Students examine how Paul Hunham, Angus Tully and Mary Lamb are emotionally “stuck”, consider how their struggles are shaped by the film’s social and historical context, and develop initial whole-film arguments that move beyond plot summary.
