About Lesson Ready

Lesson Ready creates thoughtfully sequenced, classroom-ready resources for VCE English and EAL.

Developed by an experienced secondary teacher with 17 years of classroom experience, Lesson Ready grew from an understanding of how much time high-quality planning requires. Teachers need resources that are rigorous and purposeful, but also clear, flexible and practical enough to use with real classes.

Designed for purposeful teaching

Lesson Ready units are structured around clear learning intentions and success criteria. Lessons use an explicit instructional approach and include Do Now activities, regular opportunities to respond, guided analysis and reflection.

Activities build progressively from understanding a text towards developing interpretations, selecting evidence and constructing sustained analytical responses. This gives students repeated opportunities to practise important skills while helping teachers maintain a clear direction across the unit.

Complete but flexible

Each complete unit provides editable slideshows, student worksheets and sample answers. Resources are designed to work together as a coherent sequence, reducing the need to assemble lessons from disconnected materials.

The resources remain fully editable so that teachers can:

  • adjust lesson content and timing
  • select activities that suit their classes
  • provide additional scaffolding or challenge
  • adapt materials for English and EAL learners
  • respond to the needs of their own school context

Lesson Ready provides a strong foundation without replacing professional judgement. Teachers remain free to modify, shorten or extend each lesson.

Created with the classroom in mind

Lesson Ready resources prioritise:

  • clear curriculum progression
  • meaningful engagement with texts
  • explicit teaching of analytical skills
  • accurate use of textual evidence and metalanguage
  • manageable lesson structures
  • practical resources that are ready to teach

Every unit is developed with care, reviewed for consistency and designed to support confident teaching.

Ready when you are

Lesson Ready exists to reduce unnecessary preparation while preserving the quality, flexibility and professional thinking that effective teaching requires.

The aim is simple: to give teachers more time and a clearer starting point, so they can focus on their students and the teaching that happens in the classroom.
